Pole Dancing as Olympic Sport?

You know times have definitely changed when the staple of the strip club stage is considered to take an Olympic platform.
Pole dancing used to solely be an art of sensual dancing used to entice men to fork out their cash. Now, not only has pole dancing become a fad complete with classes for stay-at-home moms, it now may actually make it as a sport to the Olympics.
“Now, when you talk about it you don’t hear ‘like a stripper’ anymore,” U.S. Pole Dance Federation co-founder Wendy Traskos said. “You hear things like, ‘Oh, my friend takes classes for fitness’ or ‘Yes, I’ve seen it on ‘Oprah.’ ”
Now, professional pole-dance group is planning to test a pole-dance event in 2012, and enter a formal pitch four years after that, in Rio de Janeiro. MORE »
